At a Glance
- Prerequisites: Complete the "When We Look Up at the Moon" event introduction. Unlock the Misty Shoal waypoint via the event menu.
- Key Mechanics: Archaeolune Energy absorption, energy ball puzzles, Statis Modules, and orbital coordinate verification.
- Rewards: Primogems, event currency, enhancement materials, and the Blue Moon achievement.
How to Reach the Moon
Open the Events menu and select the When We Look Up at the Moon tab. Press Go to teleport to the Misty Shoal waypoint. Follow the Moonlanes forward until you find Columbina. After the cutscene, the Pioneers quest begins.
Activating the Energy Mechanisms
Head to the generator room. Use Archaeolune Energy by absorbing it from a nearby source and unleashing it on the generator. The energy path is blocked by a cube—absorb energy again, aim at the cube, and activate it to blow it away. Step on the upper path to lower it, allowing energy to flow.
Choosing the Moon
After activation, you must select a moon. Only the Frost Moon is available—the machine reports no coordinates for the Eternal or Iridescent moons. The Frost Moon grants you three strange symbols; memorize them for later.
Verifying Orbital Coordinates
After a boss encounter, the system starts a self-destruct sequence. Paimon asks for specific symbols to stop it:
- Simplest-looking one: Choose the second option.
- Super Complicated one: Choose the third option.
- Same as the second: Again choose the third option (the Super Complicated symbol).
When Paimon asks again, repeat the order:
1. Simplest-looking one.
2. Super Complicated one.
3. The only option given (the same Super Complicated symbol).
Finding a Way to the Surface
On the ship's navigation panel, rotate the globe until Unigen's Circle appears. After an unexpected event, use an emergency evacuation pod. Absorb nearby Archaeolune Energy and blast the rubble to clear a path.
Opening the Passage Door
Approach the closed passage door and interact with the sphere to spawn energy balls. Hit one of the balls into the pedestal to unlock the door.
Looking for Eggie Within the Ruins
Puzzle #1: Three Energy Balls
Three pedestals need energy balls. Two are nearby; the third is on a lower floor. Push the missing ball into a Launcher and activate it to send the ball upward. Then push it onto the open pedestal and activate the machine to unlock the door.
Puzzle #2: Statis Module
A Statis Module locks and moves an item. Look up and absorb energy from the machine to turn it off, releasing the ball. Enter the room, defeat the enemies, and push any ball onto the empty pedestal.
Completing the Quest
Follow the quest marker outside and use the launcher to reach the top. The quest ends, and you unlock the Blue Moon achievement. The second act of the event begins immediately.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot interact with energy source? Ensure you're in the correct room with the generator. Restart the event dialogue if stuck.
- Energy ball doesn't launch? Position the ball directly in front of the Launcher and press the interact button.
- Paimon's questions confusing? Refer to the symbol order above; the dialogue options are identical each time.
The Pioneers quest is a compact but rewarding introduction to the moon chapter. Mastering the Archaeolune Energy mechanics and symbol puzzles will prepare you for the challenges ahead.
