Pre-Download Details by Platform

Each platform handles pre-loading a bit differently. Here's what to expect:

PC (HoYoPlay)

Open the HoYoPlay Launcher and look for the "Pre-Download" icon next to the "Start Game" button. Click it to begin. You can keep playing the game while the download runs in the background.

Mobile (Android & iOS)

Launch the game and tap the "Pre-Download Resources" icon in the bottom-right corner. Note that you won't be able to play during the download, so plan accordingly. The file is about 5 GB, so a Wi-Fi connection is strongly recommended.

PS5 & PS5 Pro

After launching Zenless Zone Zero, the console will automatically start the pre-download if you have enough free space. You can continue playing while it downloads. The file is around 17 GB.

Xbox Series X|S

The pre-download is the largest here at 28 GB. It will also start automatically after launching the game, but you can manually trigger it from the system's My games & apps > Manage > Updates page. You can keep playing during the download.

Version Update Maintenance

The servers will go down for maintenance on 2026-09-09 06:00 (UTC+8), with an estimated downtime of five hours. During this period, you won't be able to log in. Once maintenance is complete, you'll need to update the game client to the new version.

How to Update After Maintenance

  • PC: Exit the game, restart the launcher, and select update.
  • Android: Follow the in-game pop-up instructions.
  • iOS: Go to the App Store and update manually.
  • PS5: Highlight the game on the home screen, press Options, and select "Check for updates."
  • Xbox: Navigate to My games & apps > Manage > Updates and confirm the update.

Compensation & Eligibility

All Proxies who reach Inter-Knot Lv. 4 before the maintenance starts will receive Polychrome ×300 via in-game mail. The claim deadline is before the end of Version 3.2, so you have plenty of time.

What to Expect in Version 3.2

While the official patch notes haven't been fully detailed yet, we know that Version 3.2 introduces Main Story Season 3 Chapter 3: "Their Secret Histories". This questline is expected to delve deeper into the lore of the Hollows and the factions involved. Beyond the story, players can expect the usual mix of new events, quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes. Specific details on new characters or banners have not been officially announced yet. We'll update this article as more information becomes available.

Pre-Patch To-Do List

Before the servers go down, make sure you've:

  • Spent any remaining Polychrome or currency you want to use before the update.
  • Completed any time-limited events that expire with the patch.
  • Cleared your daily commissions and claimed rewards.
  • Ensured you have enough storage space for the update.

Day-1 Priorities

After the update goes live, here's what to do first:

  1. Claim your compensation from the in-game mail.
  2. Start the new story chapter to unlock new content and rewards.
  3. Check the event tab for any new limited-time activities.
  4. Review any new banners and plan your pulls accordingly.

Final Thoughts

Pre-loading is a simple way to save time on patch day. With the large file sizes, especially on console, starting the download early is a smart move. Keep an eye on official channels for the full patch notes, and we'll have detailed coverage of all the new content right here.
