Blue Archive PC Interview: Steam Launch & Future Plans

Blue Archive has had a busy 2025. After celebrating its fourth anniversary in February, the game launched on PC via Steam in July, and kicked off the Pandemic Hazard: Miraculous Pancake event in early August. To mark the occasion, Siliconera spoke with Executive Producer Yongha Kim and Studio Producer Gyeong Seop An about the new port and the game’s future. Why the PC Version Took Four Years

The producers explained that planning for the PC build began last year. Many players were already using emulators, but those methods had limitations. An official PC version was necessary to provide a better experience. Since the game was originally developed on PC, the main challenges were platform integration and payment systems, not the core game itself.

The Steam launch brought many new Senseis to the game. Expanding to additional platforms was a strategic choice to reach more players, and it has proven successful.

Unexpected Challenges and Player Feedback

Account linking between mobile and Steam wasn’t a major technical hurdle since both share the same database. However, there were unexpected issues during the linkage process, and the team sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience. They are working to resolve it quickly.

The PC version also includes features tailored for computer users, such as customizable keybinds and resolution settings, to ensure a natural experience.

Steam Launch Response and Player Numbers

The producers are happy with the positive response from Senseis. While they didn’t share exact player numbers, they noted that new players continue to join, reassuring them that the decision was right. Ongoing communication with publisher and platform partners helped resolve delays and make the launch a success.

Crossovers: Hatsune Miku, Railgun, and Future Possibilities

Blue Archive has had a few crossovers, including Hatsune Miku and A Certain Scientific Railgun units like Misaka Mikoto. While nothing is decided yet, the producers see potential for various collaborations in the mid to long term. Their top priority when collaborating is creating synergy by combining the strengths of both IPs.

Console Ports: Not Ruled Out

When asked about console releases, similar to Genshin Impact and Bleach: Brave Souls, the producers said their main focus is ensuring a smooth Steam experience. Once that’s fully in place, they’ll explore other possibilities. On a personal note, they’d be interested in trying it in the future.

Merchandise and Figure Selection

Figures and merchandise are produced through careful consultation with manufacturers. Both sides aim to bring a diverse range of characters to life, avoiding over-focus on any single character. The producers hope fans see this as a thoughtful result of their joint efforts.

Anime Adaptations: No Season 2 Plans Yet

Regarding a second season or movie, the producers cannot share specific plans at this time. There are also no finalized decisions on additional content utilizing the IP. However, they are considering various content such as merchandise and events to offer players more ways to enjoy Blue Archive.
