NIKKE July 23 Update: Project Matis, New Banners, and Permanent Modes

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is set for one of its busiest patches of the year on 2026-07-23, headlined by the return of Matis squad members Laplace and Maxwell in upgraded forms. The update also introduces the fully voiced Project Matis story event, a permanent Solo Raid Museum, and the beta launch of Champion Arena.

For Commanders planning their pulls and daily routines, this patch reshapes both the meta and the endgame loop. Below is a breakdown of everything confirmed, plus early guidance on where to spend resources. For ongoing coverage, see our Goddess of Victory: NIKKE news hub.

At a Glance

  • New Units: Laplace: Ultimate Hero (SSR Attacker) and Maxwell: Ordinary Mechanic (SSR Supporter).
  • Banner 1: Laplace from 2026-07-23 (post-maintenance) to 2026-08-12, 23:59 (UTC+9).
  • Banner 2: Maxwell from 2026-07-30, 05:00 to 2026-08-20, 04:59 (UTC+9).
  • New Event: Project Matis story event with two parts, event shop, and challenge stages.
  • New Permanent Mode: Solo Raid Museum (requires Campaign 6-4).
  • New PvP Mode: Champion Arena beta season starting 2026-07-30.
  • Limited Costumes: Laplace's Prototype Hero (paid pass) and Maxwell's Chief Researcher (August Mission Pass).

New Nikkes: Laplace and Maxwell

Laplace: Ultimate Hero returns as an Attacker who buffs her own damage output. Her Burst Skill ramps up attack power and hits multiple enemies for heavy damage. She is available in Special Recruit from the end of maintenance through 2026-08-12, 23:59 (UTC+9).

Maxwell: Ordinary Mechanic arrives as a Supporter focused on team-wide attack buffs. Her Burst Skill strengthens both her own and allied attack. Her banner runs from 2026-07-30, 05:00 through 2026-08-20, 04:59 (UTC+9).

Both units use Gems or Advanced Recruit Vouchers for pulls. The SSR rate is 4%, with a 2% rate for the featured unit. Every pull earns Gold Mileage Tickets; 200 tickets can be exchanged for the featured unit in the Mileage Shop. Unused tickets carry over after the banner ends. After their limited banners close, both units move to Standard Recruit, Social Point Recruit, and Mold-based acquisition, but not to New Commander Recruit, Standard Recruit (Tutorial), or the Mileage Shop.

Should You Pull?

  • Laplace: Ultimate Hero is a self-buffing attacker, likely suited for bossing and solo raid content. If you lack strong Wind DPS (note: source lists her as Attacker but element not confirmed in provided materials), she may be worth chasing.
  • Maxwell: Ordinary Mechanic offers team-wide attack buffs, making her a potential staple for raid teams. Supporters with team buffs tend to age well.
  • F2P: Both units are pullable with free Gems. The Project Matis event and login rewards provide Advanced Recruit Vouchers, so you can accumulate pulls without spending.
  • Low-spend: The paid Prototype Pass for Laplace's costume and the August Mission Pass for Maxwell's costume are cosmetic; skip if you are saving for future banners.

Project Matis Event and Rewards

The Project Matis story event runs from the end of maintenance through 2026-08-12, 23:59 (UTC+9). It is split into two parts: Story I opens immediately, while Story II unlocks on 2026-07-30, 05:00 (UTC+9). Clearing stages yields Advanced Recruit Vouchers and development materials. A separate Challenge Stage offers tougher boss fights for extra materials. Event items can be traded in the Event Shop until 2026-08-12, 23:59 (UTC+9).

Additionally, the Archives section adds the NEW FLAVOR story unlock (via Memory Films from Project Matis), and Storyline gets a new Project Matis entry. Both are found under Lobby → Outpost → Command Center.

Solo Raid Museum: Permanent Boss Replay

The Solo Raid Museum is a new permanent mode that lets you refight bosses from past Solo Raids. At launch, three bosses are available: Harvester, Crystal Chamber, and Indivilia. The mode has Challenge Mode and No Limit Mode; No Limit unlocks after clearing all Challenge stages for a boss. Clearing stages earns Solo Raid avatar frame replicas and collection maintenance materials, and results feed into a dedicated Ark ranking board.

No Limit Mode missions are also being added for Hall 1 bosses (Mother Whale, Black Smith, Ultra) and Hall 2 bosses (Alteisen, Modernia, Storm Bringer). Both the Total Ranking and Hall-specific rankings are expanding. To access the mode, you must clear Campaign Chapter 6-4. It is located under Lobby → Ark → Solo Raid Museum.

Champion Arena Beta Season 35

Starting 2026-07-30, Commanders who finish 4th or higher in SP Arena can compete in Champion Arena, a simulated-battle mode with a League phase, Promotion Tournament, and Champions' Duel. During the Promotion Tournament and Champions' Duel, players can predict match outcomes via a Cheer system. Accumulated ranking achievements unlock special avatar frames.

Other Changes and Optimizations

This patch includes several quality-of-life updates:

  • Advanced sound settings for the rhythm minigame TRACING THE STARS (audio output device, sound buffer, low-latency input on PC).
  • Social Points earned at different times now stack and can be claimed all at once the next day.
  • Lobby icons reorganized into folders.
  • Inventory screen gets a Quick Use checkbox for batch-using bundle and lucky boxes.
  • Phantom, Sugar, Rosanna, and Flora join the Favorite Item roster (unlocked after clearing Chapter 6-4).
  • New profile decoration objects, titles, and lobby backgrounds.

Pre-Patch To-Dos

  • Finish any ongoing event shops or missions that expire with maintenance.
  • Clear Campaign Chapter 6-4 if you haven't already, to unlock Solo Raid Museum and Favorite Items.
  • Save Gems and Advanced Recruit Vouchers for Laplace and Maxwell.
  • Check your Union status if you plan to participate in Union Raid (requires Lv. 3 and no mid-raid changes).

Day-1 Priorities

  • Start the Project Matis story event and begin farming event currency.
  • Pull for Laplace: Ultimate Hero if you need a self-sufficient attacker.
  • Try out the Solo Raid Museum to earn avatar frames and materials.
  • Check the new sound settings if you play TRACING THE STARS on PC.

The NIKKE July 23 update is dense with content, from two high-profile banners to a permanent boss replay mode and a new competitive arena.
