September Events: Drake Takes the Spotlight
Following the PROJECT MATIS event, which focused on the Matis Squad but left Drake's story relatively short, the new event GREAT VILLAIN UNION will give her more screen time. It launches in early September.
In mid-September, the COIN RUSH SHOWDOWN event brings back the popular Bunny Girl theme. While the featured Nikke hasn't been revealed, director Yoo confirmed it will be a character introduced before 2025, appearing with a brand-new look. He also noted that the visuals turned out well, so expectations are high.
Also in mid-September, the 3.5th Anniversary story event STAR ANIS will be added to the Event Archives. This story stands alone but also serves as a prelude to the upcoming Third Surface Reclamation War, making it a good time to revisit it before the main story progresses.
Costume and Nikke Reruns
A selection of limited costumes and Nikkes will return in mid-September. If you missed any of these, this is your chance.
Costume Reruns:
- Mary – Medical Rabbit
- Viper – Toxic Rabbit
- Folkwang – Moist Rabbit
- Exia – Hacker Rabbit
- Bay – Radiant Rabbit
- Alice – Sweet Home
Nikke Reruns:
- Rupee: Winter Shopper
- Anne: Miracle Fairy
- Ludmilla: Winter Owner
- Mica: Snow Buddy
- Maiden: Ice Rose
- Guillotine: Winter Slayer
These are limited-time recruitment opportunities, so plan your resources accordingly.
Narrative Enhancements and Collaboration Plans
Director Yoo emphasized the team's commitment to improving the narrative experience. Over the next year (from Q4 2026 to the 5th anniversary in 2027), they will roll out enhancements including more event scenes, SD character improvements, and features to boost story immersion. The goal is to present stories in the best possible form, not just longer ones.
Starting next year, collaborations will be split into two formats:
- Plan A: The existing large-scale format with 3D fields, two-part stories, three characters (one free), and a mini-game.
- Plan B: A smaller-scale format with fewer characters, no mini-game or 3D field, and a simplified story (similar to April Fools' events).
This change aims to provide more original NIKKE stories while also attracting new players. Plan A may still be used for particularly popular collaboration themes.
Overload Equipment and Arena Improvements
Two key quality-of-life changes are coming to Overload Equipment in mid-September:
- Lock Effect persistence: Selected effects will remain locked when using Change Effects or Reroll Values, saving you from re-selecting them each time.
- No identical results: The exact same result will not appear again after using Change Effects or Reroll Values, preventing wasted attempts.
Arena is also getting a major update. Battle replays will include more detailed combat logs, show key moments like Burst Skill usage and incapacitations, and allow viewing of defensive battles for Top 50 SP Arena players. Champion Arena will officially launch, with squad reorganization allowed before the quarterfinals and final, and qualification expanded to the Top 8 of SP Arena. The cheering screen will also be improved for side-by-side squad comparison. Note that the Champion Arena season scheduled for late October will not be held due to the update.
Resource Structure Change and Solo Raid Practice
In early September, the game's underlying resource structure will change. This requires all Commanders to download the full set of resources once. There will be no visible changes to in-game assets, but the download may be large. This is a necessary step for future features like partial downloads.
To address fairness concerns in Solo Raid Challenge Mode, a Mock Battle mode will be available from the first day of each Solo Raid starting in mid-September. This allows all players to practice the Challenge Mode in advance, studying boss patterns and testing team compositions.
Storyline Shortcut and TRAIL MARKER Event
A shortcut to the Storyline feature (which shows chronological and update order) will be added directly to the lobby in mid-September. This makes it easier to catch up on the story, especially with the Main Scenario approaching a crucial point. If you complete the entire Main Story by October 8, you can earn Recruit Vouchers and Custom Modules through the ongoing TRAIL MARKER event.
MINIKKE Short Animation Series
A new short animation series called MINIKKE will launch in early September. It consists of 10 five-minute episodes centered on SD characters, featuring prominent Nikkes like the Goddess Squad and Old Tales Squad. The tone will be lighter and more casual than the previous Outpost, Off-Duty Tales series.
4th Anniversary Teaser
Director Yoo hinted that the 4th anniversary story will be the largest update yet, with more event scenes and new songs than ever before. He also mentioned that the milestones of various stories are all pointing toward this anniversary, so expect a major convergence of narratives.
What to Do Now
- Prepare for the resource re-download: Ensure you have enough storage and a stable connection for the early September update.
- Plan your pulls: Decide which rerun Nikkes or costumes are priorities for your account.
- Catch up on the story: Use the new Storyline shortcut to complete the Main Story before October 8 for the TRAIL MARKER rewards.
- Review your Overload Equipment: The improvements will make it easier to optimize, so start thinking about which pieces you want to perfect.
