ZZZ Version 3.3: Phoenix, Severian, Mech Combat
Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 ‘Journey to the Sky’ launches October 21 with new Agents Phoenix and Severian, mech combat, and events.
HoYoverse has confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3, titled 'Journey to the Sky', will launch on 2026-10-21. The update introduces two new S-Rank Agents, a fresh mech combat system, and a slate of limited-time events. For Proxies planning their pulls and progression, this is the first major content drop of the season. You can find more Zenless Zone Zero news on our hub.
The headline additions are Phoenix, a Fire Anomaly Agent, and Severian, a Wind Attack Agent. Both bring distinct playstyles that could shift team-building priorities. Meanwhile, the new mech gameplay offers a different pace from standard Hollow exploration.

Banner Schedule and Reruns
HoYoverse has split the version into two phases. Phase 1 features Phoenix and her signature W-Engine, Plume of Rebirth. Phase 2 brings Severian with Incarcerating Grip. Reruns are also confirmed: Velina and Joyau Dore in Phase 1, and Norma and Chief Sidekick in Phase 2.
| Phase | New Agent | W-Engine | Rerun Agent | Rerun W-Engine |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Phoenix | Plume of Rebirth | Velina | Joyau Dore |
| 2 | Severian | Incarcerating Grip | Norma | Chief Sidekick |
Exact start and end dates for each phase are not stated in official materials. Based on previous versions, Phase 1 typically begins on the update day, but Proxies should wait for the in-game notice.
Should You Pull?
Phoenix is a Fire Anomaly Agent with a unique survival mechanic. Her Core Skill, Nirvana, makes Anomaly DMG crit, and she can revive herself with Rebirth at full health. This makes her a strong pick for players who want a durable Anomaly trigger. She fits well with Fire-centric teams or any composition that benefits from consistent Anomaly application.
Severian is a Wind Attack Agent who excels at dodging and counterattacking. His Core Skill, Endless Breeze, allows him to auto-dodge and build Energy for powerful slashes. He rewards precise play and could be a top choice for Wind-weak content.
For F2P players, both Agents are tempting, but resources are limited. If you already have a solid Fire Anomaly unit, Phoenix may be a luxury. Severian offers a new Wind option, but check your roster for gaps. Reruns of Velina and Norma provide alternatives for those who missed them.
Events and Rewards
Version 3.3 brings several events, each with its own rewards:
- Night of Supernatural Tricks: Team up with Lumina Square businesses. Drive Trickmobiles and scare off funhouse guests. Rewards include an Angels of Delusion outfit, a new A-Rank W-Engine, and Proxy accessories.
- Spooky Funhouse Tales: A new VR game at the HIA Club. Details on rewards are not stated in official materials.
- Cyber Miracle Healer, on Duty!: Fix Bangboo that ate toxic chips. Rewards not specified.
- Trails of the Hobbling Crow: Track down Crowe's attacker. Rewards not specified.
- Repair! Drifting Art: Piece together painting fragments lost at sea. Rewards not specified.
Additionally, the familiar Area Patrol and Combat Simulation double-drop events return. Check-in events grant a total of 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.
Mech Combat and Systems
The main story introduces a new mech combat experience. Proxies will pilot High Ambitions Corp. mechs created by Lindverne's Karma Core power, Genesis Reconstruction. These mechs can switch between melee and ranged attacks, and after an EX Special Attack or dodge, they can unleash a powerful laser. Environmental interactions, like shooting explosives or throwing heavy objects, will aid in combat and puzzles. This gameplay will persist in future versions.
The permanent mode Enigma of the Labyrinth gets a seasonal update called Spooky Trial. A Devilboo instructor, Master Devil, issues a three-round challenge. Candle Cores earned can be sold for the best price by comparing offers across friends' shops.
System optimizations include:
- Fairy now provides team recommendations based on your roster, with one-click application.
- Exclusive tutorial videos for some Agents.
- Challenge tips during Squad Configuration in permanent combat modes.
- Clearer Inter-Knot Reputation promotion benefits and reminders.
Pre-Patch To-Dos
Before the update, finish any limited-time events from Version 3.2, as they will expire. Spend your Battery on materials for Phoenix or Severian if you plan to pull. Save Polychromes and Encrypted Master Tapes. Check your Inter-Knot level to maximize promotion rewards.
Day-1 Priorities
After the update, claim check-in rewards immediately. Start the main story to unlock mech combat. Try the new events for early rewards. If you pull Phoenix or Severian, level them up and test team synergies. Use Fairy's recommendations to optimize your squads.
Version 3.3 'Journey to the Sky' is a substantial update with two new Agents, a novel combat system, and a variety of events. Whether you're pulling for Phoenix, Severian, or saving for reruns, there's plenty to do. For more details, see our ZZZ Version 3.3 Special Program recap and Phoenix & Severian reveal.
